Building Awareness Around Mental Health and Polio Prevention
Sadiqabad Health Center successfully conducted a community health awareness session on “Mental Health and the Importance of Polio” on 26 August 2026. The session was facilitated by Dr. Sana Sadia and received active and enthusiastic participation from members of the local community.
During the session, Dr. Sana Sadia highlighted the importance of understanding and addressing mental health as an essential part of overall well-being. Participants were guided on how mental health conditions can affect a person's thinking, behavior, emotions, energy levels, and ability to cope with the ordinary demands of daily life. The discussion emphasized the importance of recognizing mental health concerns and seeking appropriate support when needed.
The session particularly focused on two common categories of mental health conditions:
Anxiety Disorders
Mood Disorders
Alongside mental health awareness, the session also placed significant emphasis on polio prevention and vaccination. Participants were informed about the importance of timely and complete vaccination in protecting children against polio. Community members were encouraged to remain informed about ongoing polio vaccination campaigns and to actively contribute to efforts aimed at preventing the spread of this serious but preventable disease.
The initiative reflects the importance of taking healthcare awareness directly into communities and creating greater understanding around both physical and mental well-being. Particular attention was given to the health and welfare of women and children, who remain an important focus of community-based health initiatives.
The enthusiastic participation of community members demonstrated a growing interest in health education, preventive healthcare, and healthier communities. Sessions such as these play an important role in empowering individuals with knowledge and encouraging communities to adopt informed and proactive approaches to their health.
