APWA Establishes Craft Center in Orangi Town to Empower Women and Promote Skill Development

All Pakistan Women’s Association (APWA) established a Craft Center in Orangi Town Sector #10 in August 2025, with the aim of empowering women through skill development and income-generating opportunities. The center provides hands-on training in cutting, sewing, and beadwork, enabling women and girls to acquire practical skills that can support financial independence and future entrepreneurship.

The establishment of the Craft Center was made possible through the generous financial support of Dr. Tanvir Kamal, President of APWA, who donated funds for the purchase of sewing machines and other essential materials required for the smooth and effective functioning of the facility. This contribution has played a crucial role in ensuring that trainees have access to proper equipment and a conducive learning environment.

Mrs. Nayyer Rubab, Chairperson of Health, regularly monitors the Craft Center and actively contributes creative ideas for developing new and marketable products. Her continued involvement helps enhance the quality of training while encouraging innovation and sustainability within the program.

Currently, 25 girls are enrolled at the Craft Center, and the initiative has been warmly welcomed by the local community. Participants and their families have expressed deep appreciation for this opportunity, which not only builds technical skills but also fosters confidence, self-reliance, and hope for a better future.

The Craft Center stands as a meaningful step toward women’s empowerment, skill enhancement, and the promotion of small-scale entrepreneurship, reinforcing APWA’s long-standing commitment to community development and social upliftment.
