World Diabetes Day Awareness and Screening Camp at Golimar Health Center

To mark World Diabetes Day, the All Pakistan Women’s Association (APWA) organized a comprehensive Diabetes Awareness and Screening Camp at the Golimar Health Center on 16 November 2025. The initiative was aimed at raising awareness about diabetes, encouraging early diagnosis, and providing accessible screening services to community members, particularly those with limited access to preventive healthcare.

Recognizing the growing prevalence of diabetes and its long-term health implications, APWA continues to prioritize community-based health initiatives that focus on prevention, awareness, and early intervention. In line with this commitment, APWA successfully conducted a World Diabetes Day awareness and screening program at the Golimar Health Center, serving as an important step toward improving public health outcomes at the grassroots level.

The program was organized in collaboration with Rahila Lab, whose professional team played a key role in ensuring accurate screening and efficient management of the event. Mr. Fayyaz, along with two additional support staff from Rahila Lab, actively assisted in the screening process, sample collection, and overall coordination, ensuring that participants received timely and reliable services.

Throughout the day, community members were educated about diabetes risk factors, symptoms, and the importance of regular blood sugar monitoring. Informal counseling and guidance were provided to help participants better understand lifestyle changes, dietary habits, and the significance of early medical consultation in managing diabetes effectively.

A total of 137 individuals, including both men and women from the surrounding community, benefited from the free diabetes screening services offered during the camp. For individuals requiring further medical evaluation, blood samples for additional diagnostic tests were collected at nominal charges, making advanced testing affordable and accessible for all participants.

The response from the community was highly encouraging. Participants expressed deep appreciation for APWA’s efforts in bringing essential healthcare services directly to their neighborhood. Many highlighted the value of having access to professional screening facilities without financial burden and acknowledged APWA’s continued dedication to improving community health and well-being.

Through initiatives such as this, APWA reaffirms its commitment to health awareness, preventive care, and community empowerment. By fostering partnerships and extending healthcare outreach, APWA aims to create lasting positive impact and contribute to a healthier, more informed society.
